Boundary walls to military barracks, built or rebuilt c.1860, having a number of ashlar limestone gateways at intervals along length. Constructed of coursed limestone rubble with sections of gun loops located close to the various entrances. Some sections of walling to the north have been removed and replaced by low limestone rubble wall with metal railings above. Surrounds Custume Barracks.
This well-built and imposing boundary wall is an integral part of the Custume Barracks complex. The loop-holes, which were built for defensive purpose, are noteworthy features of historical importance.
