Description

Tall castle wall, built in the early 19th century. It is constructed in rubble stone. To the south face the wall incorporates early 19th-century stables. It has a battlemented top and incorporates a number of decorative arrow loops and roundels. Large timber sheeted coach doors are set within an ogee-arched opening; this is set within a slightly advancing bay. Other small pass doors are also timber sheeted and set within flat-headed openings with relieving arches over. The wall is road fronted.

Appraisal

Although not dating from the construction of the castle this tall stone wall serves to compliment its setting. It creates a sense of mystery by totally separating the castle from the nearby street.
