Freestanding cast-iron pillar post box, c.1935, with raised 'P&T' monogram in Gaelic script, and moulded capping. Road fronted on concrete footpath.

Appraisal

This pillar post box is an attractive item of street furniture, which has a subtle impact on the historic character of the streetscape. The post box is a good example of early surviving mass-produced cast ironwork. The inscribed lettering, in Gaelic script, is of interest as a reminder of the promotion of a national identity upon the establishment of an independent state.
