Terraced three-bay single-storey estate worker’s house, c.1800. Refenestrated, c.1900. Pitched (shared) slate roof with clay ridge tiles, rendered (shared) chimney stacks, and cast-iron rainwater goods on rendered eaves. Unpainted lime rendered walls over random rubble stone construction. Square-headed window openings with stone sills, and replacement 1/1 timber sash windows, c.1900. Square-headed door opening with replacement glazed timber panelled door, c.1950. Road fronted.
A pleasant small-scale house sponsored by the Duke of Devonshire for workers on the Lismore Castle estate. Well maintained, the house retains the original form and massing, together with important salient features and materials, which enhance the historic quality of the composition. The house remains an attractive feature in the streetscape of New Street.
