Terraced three-bay four-storey house, c.1790. Extensively renovated, c.1990, to accommodate use as apartments. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, rendered chimney stacks, and cast-iron rainwater goods on rendered eaves. Painted rendered walls with rendered quoins to corner. Square-headed window openings with stone sills. Replacement uPVC casement windows, c.1990. Round-headed door opening with moulded rendered surround, timber panelled door and decorative fanlight. Road fronted with sections of wrought iron railings and concrete brick cobbled footpath to front.
A well-balanced substantial house of Classical proportions that has been extensively renovated, leading to the loss of much of the original fabric. The inappropriate replacement fittings to the openings do not enhance the appearance of the composition. However, the survival of early fittings to the door opening enhances the character of the composition. The house makes a positive impact in the streetscape of William Street, and is identified by its vertical massing, contributing to the varied roofline of the terrace.
