Description

Formerly detached five-bay two-storey public house, c.1838, with later recessed porch to south. Smooth rendered ground floor with segmental-arched openings having keystones, and deep stripped pilasters. Roughcast rendered first floor with parallel render quoins, square-headed windows with render surrounds, and prominent cornice. Plate glass throughout. Glazed timber doors. Pitched slate roof with gable end chimney stacks and parapet having central name tablet. Later extensions to side and rere.

Appraisal

A substantial mid nineteenth-century public house, retaining its original proportions and preserving an older off-set street line. Apparently the oldest public house in the village.
