Description

Cast-iron post box, erected c.1940. High relief P & T lettering above letter slot. Set within random coursed stone wall.

Appraisal

This wall-mounted post box, at the junction of Saint Mary's Road, is typical of Ireland's later post Independence boxes. The Celtic Revival style writing, which was popular at the time, is aesthetically pleasing. The firm of founders are from Athy.
