Wall-mounted cast-iron post-box, c.1915, with raised royal 'G.R.' and crown motif to base, and raised 'Letters Only' lettering to head. Still in use. Set into rubble stone wall with chamfered stone coping. Located on eastern side of Church Hill Road to south-west of school and chapel.
This attractive item of street furniture is an early surviving artifact of mass-produced cast-iron. The casting represents technical skill and the royal insignia have artistic quality and historical significance. It is located adjacent to a rural road junction, a common and practical site for post-boxes.
