Description

Single-span road-over-bridge, built c. 1850. Random rubble stone spandrels and parapets, tooled ashlar copings to parapets. Segmental-headed arch, rusticated stone voussoirs. Gabled cap stones to piers and centre parapet. Piers not visible due to vegetation. Tarmac double carriageway, concrete pedestrian footpath to north. Spans the River White.

Appraisal

This robust stone bridge is a vital part of the townscape of Dunleer marking the eastern approach to the town. The use of good quality materials enhances its character.
