Description

Terraced two-bay three-storey house, built c.1870, with 1940s shopfront. Pitched slate roof with rendered chimneystacks. Rendered facade with quoins. Vitrolite shopfront to ground floor with large display windows and central recessed entrance. Replacement uPVC windows with stone sills. Replacement timber doors with overlight.

Appraisal

The scale and form of this building contribute to the streetscape. The house retains a good example of a mid-twentieth-century vitrolite shopfront, with large display windows, recessed entrance and fascia board. Vitrolite is no longer made in Ireland and as a result such shopfronts, which are technically significant, are becoming increasingly rare.
