Description

Single-arch humpback limestone railway bridge, built c. 1862. Coursed roughly dressed walls with snecked abutments.

Appraisal

This bridge, built by the Great Southern Rail Company, is well designed and finely executed, with a strong functional aesthetic. The line was opened in 1862 by the CLDR (the Cork Limerick Direct Railway). The rusticated masonry is typical of such structures and is indicative of nineteenth century craftsmanship.
