Wall-mounted cast-iron post box, c. 1930, with P&T emblem. Mounted in boundary wall of Coolcappagh School. Manufactured by W.T. Allen & Co. London.

Appraisal

The traditional Gaelic form of the lettering on this well crafted post box, which was employed for many public uses in the Free State period in Ireland, is noteworthy. Post boxes of the mid wentieth century are becoming increasingly rare.
