Description

Wall-mounted cast-iron post box, erected c.1905, with raised "ER" royal cipher, no longer in use. Set into the plain rubble wall on Green Road. Missing its box door

Appraisal

Although now disused and missing its door this remains an early surviving artefact of mass-produced cast-iron ware. The royal cipher serves as a tangible reminder of the period when Ireland formed part of the British Empire.
