Detached five-bay two-storey house, extant 1839, on a T-shaped plan; single-bay (single-bay deep) two-storey central return (north). Hipped artificial slate roof on a T-shaped plan centred on hipped artificial slate roof (north), roll moulded clay ridge tiles, paired rendered central chimney stacks having corbelled stepped stringcourses below capping supporting terracotta octagonal pots, and replacement uPVC rainwater goods on rendered eaves. Rendered walls. Segmental-headed central door opening in segmental-headed recess approached by flight of three steps with concealed dressings having bull nose-detailed reveals framing replacement timber panelled door having overlight. Square-headed window openings with sills, and concealed dressings framing margined one-over-one timber sash windows. Set in landscaped grounds perpendicular to road with piers to perimeter having moss-covered stepped capping supporting arrow head-detailed wrought iron double gates.
A house representing an important component of the domestic built heritage of Graiguenamanagh with the architectural value of the composition confirmed by such attributes as the rectilinear plan form centred on a restrained doorcase; and the diminishing in scale of the openings on each floor producing a graduated visual impression with those openings showing pretty margined glazing patterns. Having been well maintained, the form and massing survive intact together with substantial quantities of the original fabric, both to the exterior and to the interior, thus upholding the character or integrity of a house having historic connections with General Thomas Cloney (1774-1850), 'United Irishman [and] Rebel Leader and lifelong labourer in Ireland's Cause'.
