Description
Gateway, c.1775, comprising pair of granite ashlar channelled piers with moulded capping having blocking course over, cast-iron open work inner piers having decorative panels, and iron double gates having cast-iron finials. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of Kilkenny Castle.

An elegantly-appointed gateway exhibiting high quality stone masonry together with decorative iron ware enhancing the artistic design value of the composition in Castle Road.
