Description

Section of broken coursed limestone ashlar boundary wall, built 1847, on a curved plan with base batter having slit-style apertures, tooled cut-limestone stringcourse, and limestone ashlar parapet having tooled cut-limestone coping. Set back from line of road.

Appraisal

An impressive boundary wall making a strong visual impression in the streetscape particularly on account of the incorporation of a distinct batter. The construction in fine limestone ashlar with tooled cut-limestone dressings exhibits very high quality stone masonry while producing a sober feature of monochromatic appearance in Castlecomer New Road.
