Description

Detached four-bay single-storey vernacular house, built c.1800, with dormer attic. Pitched reed thatched roof with low rendered chimneystack. Limewashed walls. Square-headed replacement uPVC windows with stone sills. Square-headed doorways to front and rear, having replacement timber door to front and timber battened door to rear. Front openings have decorative render surrounds.

Appraisal

This vernacular house is unusually intact, not having been extended, and therefore a particularly good example. The contrast between the decorative detail of the front and the plainness of the rear, is typical of vernacular houses.
