Description

Two-arch humpbacked limestone bridge, built c.1800, but reconstructed c.1850. Round and segmental arches with ashlar voussoirs cut in block and start fashion. Coursed rubble stone walls with rectangular-plan cutwaters. Walls capped with roughly cut coping stones. One arch acts as flood arch as river has been narrowed and only one arch is used for flow of water.

Appraisal

This bridge gives the appearance of being a rebuilding in the mid-nineteenth century of an earlier bridge, this fact giving added interest to what is a good exaple of nineteenth-century bridge-building.
