Appraisal

This horse trough is one of only three remaining in the Dublin metropolitan area. It is an attractive piece of street furniture and has been well preserved. The inscription on the side lends contextual interest, and the simple chamfered edges provide subtle decorative interest. It articulates the curve of this historic street and is a reminder of the pre-motor era.
