Single-span rubble stone and red brick bridge, built c.1865, carrying road over disused railway. Square-headed arch having steel girder deck with red brick parapets. Rubble stone piers having red brick quoins.
This is a fine example of the bridges which were built as part of the Cork, Bandon and South Coast Railway network. The red brick and cast-iron utilised in its construction were unusual materials in rural areas in the nineteenth century, and are representative of the mass produced materials which were utilised by railway networks in their building campaigns.
