Appraisal

A fine magazine originally built to hold up to 25,000 barrels of gunpowder for naval base on Haulbowline Island. Haulbowline was an important strategic site for the British naval services throughout the nineteenth century. Well-executed stonework is evident in the walls, particularly in the arched classical style entrance.
