Description

Single-arch road bridge over road, built 1811, having coursed roughly dressed limestone masonry walls with dressed limestone copings. Three-centred arch with dressed limestone voussoirs. Inscribed red sandstone keystone to west elevation, inscribed limestone keystone to east elevation. Coursed roughly dressed parapet walls to east elevation, concrete block parapet walls to west elevation.

Appraisal

Early nineteenth century bridge of solid limestone construction, exhibiting carved keystones in both local Cork red sandstone and limestone. The text inscribed is "Lacken Roe Bridge 1811". This structure serves as a reminder of the quality of the engineering and local craftsmen's skills at this time.
