Attached four-bay two-storey house, built c.1860, having timber shopfront to front (south) elevation. Currently vacant. Pitched slate roof having rendered chimneystack, eaves course and uPVC rainwater goods. Rendered walls throughout. Camber-headed window openings with render sills throughout, having uPVC casement windows. Timber shopfront with panelled pilasters, surmounted by architrave, frieze and moulded cornice. Square-headed display window with render sills and stall risers, having fixed six-pane timber-framed windows. Square-headed door openings with timber surrounds having panelled timber reveals and single- and double-leaf timber panelled doors with single-pane overlights. Fronting directly onto street.
An attractive building located in The Square in Rosscarbery, at the centre of the town. Though it has lost some of its historic fabric, it nonetheless retains much of its historic character. The fine timber shopfront is a particularly noteworthy feature, and is a reminder of the quality of design and craftsmanship of shopfronts in the past. Its shares many characteristics with other buildings in the area and makes a fine contribution to the streetscape.
