Description
Wall-mounted cast-iron post box, installed c.1915. Raised lettering and royal cipher to box and letter slot hood, having panel detailing to door.
Appraisal
This fine post box, with its well-cast detailing, serves as an excellent example of the high quality cast-iron street furniture were was made during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The royal cipher of King George is a reminder of a time when Ireland was still part of the United Kingdom.
