Terraced four-bay two-storey former house, built c.1795, now in use as restaurant. Pitched slate roof with rendered eaves course, chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Lined-and-ruled rendered walls with rendered plinth. Square-headed window openings with tooled stone sills having uPVC casement windows. Round-headed door opening within timber doorcase comprising panelled reveals and pilasters on rendered plinths surmounted by open bedded pediment. Timber panelled door with decorative spoked fanlight and limestone stepped approach. Rendered enclosing plinth wall to front (west) flanking entrance with cast-iron railings.
This elegantly proportioned former house retains its original form and character together with important features and materials including a fine timber doorcase. It is one of a long terrace of houses located on the east side of Emmet Square, formerly known as Shannon Square after the Earls of Shannon, which was laid out between 1785 and 1810 to accommodate the wealthy merchants of the town.
