Terraced four-bay two-storey shop and house, built c.1820, having timber shopfront to front (south) elevation. Pitched slate roof with rendered eaves course, chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Rendered walls throughout. Square-headed window openings with stone sills throughout, having render label mouldings with label stops to first floor of front elevation having uPVC casement windows. Rendered surround and fixed uPVC display window to ground floor of front elevation. Timber shopfront comprising pilasters surmounted by consoles, architrave, painted fascia board and cornice. Set along roadside.
This fine building with its expansive façade is set within an important terrace of buildings along the main street of Ballineen. The house retains much of its historic character through the retention of the key features including a fine slate roof and an excellent shopfront. Its unusual render label mouldings are attractive additions to the facade adding further character to the building.
