Terraced two-bay two-storey house, built c.1900, having shopfront to ground floor. Pitched artificial slate roof with rooflights, rendered chimneystack and cast-iron rainwater goods. Painted smooth rendered walls. Square-headed openings with one-over-one timber sliding sash windows. Render and timber shopfront comprising render pilasters supporting fluted console brackets, timber fascia board with raised timber lettering and moulded render cornice. Square-headed opening with triple pane carved timber fixed pane display window with timber framed glazed access wall visible to interior. Square-headed door opening with timber glazed door and carved timber fixed pane overlight.
A modest handsome façade with a well-crafted shopfront whose carved detailing is noteworthy. The survival of raised timber lettering is of interest and the practice of associating a family name with its commercial premises is a feature which is becoming increasingly rare in contemporary townscapes. The scale and composition of this facade contribute greatly to the streetscape of the town.
