Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c.1930, having advanced central entrance bay to front (north) elevation. Hipped slate roof with overhanging eaves, rendered chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls with rendered platband to first floor. Bipartite and tripartite square-headed window openings with stone sills and one-over-one timber sliding sash windows. Venetian window to first floor with stained glass one-over-one sash windows. Square-headed door opening with timber panelled door. Set within its own grounds with roughcast rendered boundary wall and piers flanking wrought-iron gates.
The large scale and form of this house make it an imposing and notable addition in the urban landscape. Its substantial form is accentuated by the overhanging eaves, wide platbands and advanced bay, while the retention of the timber sliding sash windows adds to its character. Artistic interest is added to the façade by the stained glass Venetian window. It forms part of a group of large early twentieth century houses set in landscaped gardens along the south side of Shanakiel Road, overlooking the city and Lee valley.
