Terraced two-bay three-storey house, built c.1780, with shopfront inserted at ground floor level. Pitched slate roof, partially re-roofed, with rooflights and cast-iron bracketed gutters. Smooth rendered walls. Camber-headed window openings with stone sills and two-over-two timber sliding sash windows. Render shopfront comprising timber fascia board and cornice. Square-headed window opening with fixed pane display window. Square-headed door opening to south having metal shutters. Square-headed door opening to north gives access to upper floors with two limestone steps and timber panelled door with overlight. Street-fronted.

This imposing building creates a considerable presence in the streetscape by virtue of its height, mass and steeply pitched roof. The roof pitched is of particular interest and is suggestive of an early date. Shandon Street is one of the oldest continually inhabited sections of Cork city and this townhouse contributes to its sense of history and its architectural variety.
