The National Built Heritage Service (NBHS) is delighted to announce the addition of a new section to its website. \u00a0The new Towns<\/em><\/a> page brings together a range of resources for local authorities, owners, and practitioners working with historic buildings in the urban environment.<\/p>\n

Including materials from Irish and wider European sources, the page provides a wealth of information for those working to promote the recognition of architectural character and cultural significance while addressing contemporary challenges such as dereliction and vacancy. \u00a0By highlighting these resources, NBHS also hopes to raise awareness of the protection of historic building fabric and archaeological heritage, particularly within designated Architectural Conservation Areas and Zones of Archaeological Potential.<\/p>\n

In keeping with these efforts, NBHS is partnering with the Urban Initiative EU<\/a> and the Southern Regional Assembly EU Programmes Division<\/a> in developing an event, Reimagining Places: Sustainable Conservation of Ireland’s Beautiful Heritage \u2013 An EUI Capacity Building Event Under THRIVE and beyond<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, <\/em>taking place in Monaghan Peace Campus, Monaghan, H18 R920, on Wednesday 26th<\/sup> and Thursday 27th<\/sup> November 2025.<\/p>\n

This event is aimed primarily at local authorities and will explore the benefits of integrating conservation, preservation and sustainable adaptive reuse approaches in the design of Town Centre First and similar regeneration projects.<\/p>\n

Attendees can look forward to hands-on exercises in workshops using both national and European case studies, informative plenary sessions, inspiring keynote speakers, site visits and networking with national and European counterparts. \u00a0Any available outputs from the event will appear on the Towns<\/em> page in due course.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
