Custodians and owners of historic structures and protected structures may now apply for up to \u20ac50,000 in grant funding under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2026.\u00a0 Owners of historic thatched buildings, commercial or domestic, may now apply for up to \u20ac20,000 in grant funding under the dedicated Historic Thatched Buildings Stream of the Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2026.<\/p>\n

Ireland’s built heritage contributes to the vitality of our cities, towns, villages and countryside whilst instilling a sense of pride of place.\u00a0 The Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS) helps custodians and owners of historic structures and protected structures meet their obligations in caring for Ireland’s built heritage.<\/p>\n

The BHIS 2026 is administered by the local authorities and those intending to apply should contact their local Architectural Conservation Officer<\/a> for advice and assistance or their local Heritage Officer<\/a> if their local authority does not employ and Architectural Conservation Officer.<\/p>\n

The BHIS 2026 is open for applications until Friday 26th<\/sup> September 2025.\u00a0 Full details, including application forms, circulars and relevant contact details, may be found below:<\/p>\n
