Description

Four-span road-over-river stone bridge, built c. 1860. Squared-and-snecked rubble stone spandrels and parapet, squared rubble stone coping. Round-headed arches, squared rubble voussoirs. Double bitumen carriage, grass verges.

Appraisal

This stone bridge is a fine example of the engineering achievements in County Louth in the nineteenth century. This bridge was closed to vehicle traffic c. 2000 when traffic was diverted over a new bridge to the south.
