Single-arch road bridge over railway track, built c. 1870. Squared-and-snecked limestone and sandstone walling, ashlar limestone string course and impost to vault; segmental-headed arches, rock-faced limestone voussoirs; rock-faced ashlar full-height pilasters flanking arches; soldier limestone coping to north parapet, ashlar limestone coping to south parapet.
This handsome bridge is one of a group of structures which form Dundalk Railway Station. Its skillfully executed stonework, displaying a variety of finishing, is a testament to railway bridge building in the late nineteenth-century. Ardee Bridge is a vital feature within the complex giving necessary access over the railway.
