Appraisal

A house representing an integral component of the mid nineteenth-century domestic built heritage of Wexford with the architectural value of the composition suggested by such attributes as the compact plan form centred on a Classically-detailed doorcase showing a simple radial fanlight; and the diminishing in scale of the openings on each floor producing a graduated visual impression. Having been well maintained, the elementary form and massing survive intact together with substantial quantities of the original fabric, both to the exterior and to the interior, thus upholding the character or integrity of a house having historic connections with Henry William Wray (d. 1866), 'County Inspector of Constabulary late of Julia Mount [sic] Wexford County Wexford' (Calendars of Wills and Administrations 1866, 357); John Maddock (d. 1878), 'Brickmaker late of Julia Mount [sic] Wexford' (Calendars of Wills and Administrations 1879, 422); Nicholas B. Leared (d. 1915), 'Gentleman late of Juliamount Wexford' (Calendars of Wills and Administrations 1916, 369); and Richard Richards (d. 1921) '[of] Juliamount' (cf. 157037--).
