Water mill, built c.1810, comprising two four-storey blocks, at angle to each other, miller's house attached to northeast and two-storey lean-to structure to west end formerly used as shop. Eight-bay south block higher than four-bay northern block. Slate roofs recently removed. Roughcast rendered limestone walls, having exposed to south elevation and brick surrounds to some openings. Large doorway in west wall of north block. Limestone arch with roughly-dressed voussoirs in west end of rear of south block.
This is an imposing building situated in a prominent position at the crossroads at the north end of the town and with one block to the Ballyfinboy River beside the bridge. It is of social importance to Borrisokane as the former main industry in the town and the source of employment for many people. Unused for many years, the walls and openings of the mill are still intact and are a testament to the quality of its construction.
