Description

Triple-span limestone road-over-river bridge, built c. 1840. Coursed rock-faced ashlar walling rising to form parapets, triangular buttresses to east side of south elevation. Long-span central segmental arch flanked by short-span round-headed arches, rock-faced ashlar voussoirs. Rock-faced ashlar piers between arches with semi-circular cutwaters to each end, with projecting strings and domed capstones. Roughly-dressed sandstone copings to parapets. Bitmac carriageway. Spans east-west over Easkey River.

Appraisal

This fine bridge is an imposing structure over the Easkey River. Ashlar stonework to piers and arches is particularly well executed.
