Description

Four-arch stone road-over-river bridge, built c. 1780. Uncoursed rubble limestone walling. Segmental-arched openings, roughly dressed limestone voussoirs, pointed pyramid-capped limestone cut-waters, low rubble stone parapet, roughly dressed copings. Narrow concrete footpath to north side of macadamed road surface. Plastic services pipes attached to south side. Carries main access road from west into village.

Appraisal

This eighteenth-century road bridge, which spans over the river Arrow, is still in constant use and forms an important entrance feature to the village of Riverstown . It exhibits robust rustic constructional detailing.
