Description

Freestanding circular-plan stepped cut stone beacon, erected c.1880, with domed cap, painted orange. Set to side of the River Shannon on west bank indicating shallow water.

Appraisal

This beacon forms part of an interesting and significant group of structures with the bridge, quay and mooring posts. It plays an important role in the navigation of the River Shannon around Roosky. The execution of its stonework is notable.
