Description
Triangular-plan miniature fort, built c.1820. Comprising of corner towers and turrets set in rendered walls, with castellations. Pointed arch, gun loop and circular openings. Set in a lake.
Appraisal
This picturesque miniature fort forms part of an interesting and unusual group of follies, with the boathouse, rustic temples and statue, which are situated in and around the lake. The Fox's Earth, Cockle Tower and ornamental dairy are related folly structures in the demesne. These demesne related structures form part of a fascinating group, with the ornamental farm yards and main house, which were built by Robert Watson. |
