Detached three-bay two-storey gate lodge, built c.1880, with projecting porch to south elevation and with a gabled bay to the east gable. Now disused. Pitched slate roof with red brick chimneystack. Rubble stone walls with remains of render. Cast-iron windows set in openings with ashlar limestone surrounds. Ruins of stone outbuilding to site.
This gate lodge, known as "Chattan's Lodge", forms part of an interesting group of Loughcrew demesne-related structures, with the Ionic portico, workers' houses, church, stables, graveyard and gate lodges. Though now in poor condition, this gate lodge retains many original features and materials, such as the cast-iron windows and limestone dressings.
