Description

Detached cruciform-plan church, built in 1770. Pitched slate roofs and stone walls. Pointed arch and round-headed openings with dressed stone surrounds. Medieval tower to north-west corner. Surrounded by graveyard. Stone gate piers with wrought-iron gates. Detached two-bay single-storey stone former parochial hall, built in 1839, now partially demolished and being rebuilt.

Appraisal

The stone facades of this church are enhanced by the traceried windows set in limestone dressings. The site of this church has been a focus for religious activity for many centuries and contains archaeological features such as the medieval tower. An interesting group of religious structures is formed with the surrounding graveyard, gates and former sexton's lodge.
