Freestanding memorial, erected c.1880, comprising of Celtic cross, set on stone pedestal with carved panels and basins on north and south faces. Carving includes Celtic interlacing strapwork, rope mouldings and flower motifs. Low relief crown carving to east face. Inscription on west face.
This unusual monument is an interesting addition to the streetscape. The carved detailing enlivens the form of the monument, and was clearly the work of a skilled craftsmen. The crown and Celtic motifs are interesting features of the monument, as traditional British and Irish symbols are combined on the structure. This monument was erected by the Headfort family.
