Description
Freestanding cast-iron pillar box, erected c. 1900, at the junction of William Street and Fox's Bow. Fluted domed cap. Raised lettering reading: Post Office at base of pillar.
Appraisal
A standard cast-iron post box with minimal detail is of interest in the manner in which it contributed to defining the streetscape corner. In continued use, this post box is testimony to the industrial age of manufacture and production.
