Description

Octagonal-plan chimney, built c. 1865. Square-plan base, tooled limestone broached junction to shaft. Red brick walling laid in English garden wall bond, projecting moulded plinth, moulded recessed panels to base, painted brick shaft, cast-iron bracing to support upper section. Red brick boiler house attached to north.

Appraisal

This red brick chimney has survived in excellent condition and forms an important part of the complex of nineteenth-century brewery buildings. The chimney is of good quality construction and materials. The decorative niches to the base enhance an essentially utilitarian structure.
