Description

Pair of detached reinforced concrete chimneystacks on circular-plan associated with Lanesborough Power Station, built 1966. Now in disuse. Square-headed openings with cast-iron doors. Aluminium vents to south chimneystack. Located to the rear of Lanesborough Power Station (13310014).

Appraisal

These chimneystacks form an impressive and striking silhouette in the landscape. The chimneystacks formed an integral and indispensable part of the process of generating power at the Lanesborough Power Station complex (13310014). They are probably the tallest structures ever built in County Longford and they are an interesting addition to the civil engineering heritage of the county.
