Description

Single-arch road bridge, built c.1850, carrying road traffic over a stream towards Lough Rynn House and Estate. Random coursed cut stone walls with triangular coping stones and rock-faced voussoirs to arch-ring.

Appraisal

The quality of stonework in this bridge is notable and a testament to the high level of craftsmanship visible throughout the estate. Bridges such as this were vital in the running of an estate such as Lough Rynn, facilitating the movement of people and goods. Not only is it architecturally important, but also socially significant.
