Description

Two-arch rubble stone road bridge over river, c.1800. Random rubble stone walls with triangular cut-water to pier, and rendered rounded coping to parapets. Pair of segmental arches with cut-stone voussoirs, and ribbed rendered soffits. Sited spanning tributary of River Nore with random rubble stone retaining walls to river having rubble stone vertical coping.

Appraisal

An attractive bridge forming an important element of the civil engineering heritage of Inistioge. The traditional construction in rubble stone with cut-stone accents displaying good masonry produces an appealing textured visual effect assimilating pleasantly into the surrounding landscape.
