Description

Single-arch rubble stone bridge over river, c.1800. Random rubble stone walls with ivy-clad squared rubble stone coping to parapets. Single elliptical arch with cut-stone voussoirs, and rubble stone soffits having remains of render over. Sited spanning tributary of River Nore with random rubble stone retaining walls to river having sections of stone cobbling to river bed.

Appraisal

A small-scale artefact of the civil engineering heritage of Inistioge representing a pleasant, if somewhat obscure feature of the townscape: the bridge is further distinguished as it is believed to have been intended as a platform carrying a house over the River Nore.
