Description

Three-span footbridge over river, c.1925. Series of lintel spans on tooled limestone ashlar piers having triangular cut-waters, and sections of iron railings over having ivy-clad terminating piers with cut-limestone coping. Sited spanning Kings River with random rubble stone retaining walls to river leading to grass banks having random rubble stone retaining walls.

Appraisal

Forming an attractive, if discreet feature spanning the Kings River an elegantly-appointed footbridge represents an important element of the early twentieth-century civil engineering heritage of Callan.
