Description

Limestone statue of pike man on limestone and marble plinth, built 1938, with memorial plaques, limestone pediment and marble columns to each side. Base inscribed 'O Brien Castleisland 1995'. Memorial erected to commemorate the various risings in Ireland against British Rule. Destroyed c. 1920, rebuilt c. 1938, moved c. 1975 and c. 1995 to accommodate building and renovation of culvert below. Marble from Castleisland and limestone from Ballybeggan were used in the original c. 1905 monument. Limestone curbing to surrounding paving.
